Book Launch

Follow my Book Launch Journey Part 3

In Part 2 of my journey, I set a goal to format my book and upload to KDP Select.  Why did I choose KDP Select?  Exposure.  Plain and Simple.

The following GIF says it all.

Book Launch A Grand Mexico Tour

Imagine the happy dance I did when I received this email from Kindle:

Congratulations! Your book “A Grand Mexico Tour” is available for pre-order in the Kindle Store. It is available* for customers to pre-order here.

Publishing Stage completed.

Switching  hats from publisher to the Marketing Stage.

Marketing is far more than the act of selling your book. Instead, it is a process that helps you build a relationship with your readers, and greater excitement for your book.

My goal for marketing my e-book is to have fun by sharing information with my readers.

Stay tuned for tomorrow’s announcement. Oh okay.  I can’t wait!!!  The entire northern hemisphere is bracing for freezing temperatures and major snow tomorrow and that means  “Snow day”.

Starting January 22 to January 24, you can download a free copy of my e-book   In A Long, Long, Trailer, Too!,  the first book in my series On RVing Time.  Don’t have a reader,  not to worry.  You can download a free Kindle Reader for PC .  Feel free to share this link.

Okay you marketing gurus out there.    I’d love to hear from you.  Share your experiences with marketing self-published books.

Hello, I nominated you for an award https://wwwpalfitness.wordpress.com/2016/01/22/3-day-quote-challenge-number-idk-back-to-back-this-week-day-1/

I did not know if doing a challenge is something you would be interested in. Many people either do not do them or choose memes that are not real quotes.

Also, I saw the above and saw that you mentioned KDP select, what is the difference between that and the regular or am I just not sure it is the same publishing tool? I would search but I am way behind, which is why I asked.

    Thank you,

    Paul

I really appreciate the nomination Paul. . For the next two weeks my focus is on my Book Launch but I promise to take a look. Now about KDP and KDP Select. When you publish with KDP, your book is available to kindle. You can publish anything here and elsewhere with no problems. With KDP Select you have an exclusive 90-Day contract with Amazon, which means you cannot publish your e-book anywhere else for that period. You have to check the opt-in box to put your book into the Select program.

KDP Select has services like free offer and countdown offer and your title is entered into the Amazon Prime lending library. Great exposure for unknown authors.

If you opt out of Select, your book will still be available on Amazon, you just won’t have access to all of the services but on the positive note, you can offer your book to other venues like KOBO, Apple and your own website. Have a great weekend.

I hope you have a good weekend as well. With the select they actually do that for free? it seems like a no brainer. I have enough content in just my Haikus and Acrostics to put out a couple of books. I did some researc seeing how long people’s books were. What I did not like is Amazon said to use e pub on my mac and try to upload as a test if there’s a pic and the html code was there and then when I did a sample I just had code on Kindle, which they said would convert. I am trying to keep all of my pics if I have to put them in manually. Plus I have all of my exercise tips and can write a lot there plus I have a lot in that category as well.
I will see you during the week:)

Thanks I saved it in Favorites. It is cool that they offer it for free. I have searched around regarding pricing and I guess many people go free if someone has a free youtube channel subscription and then hard copy and e copy prices. I am guessing in the 90 days they set up pricing and I never saw what percent they get out of sales or if it is zero. I know I will have to self promote which will be oK for me I suppose. it will be like starting anything else. Thank you for the link:

Thankyou Sharon for a very entertaining read, in spite of my having no specific interest in the subject of RVing! Your book was my very first Kindle read! The next two books in your series will also be my first kindle book purchases (next weekend).
I downloaded the Kindle-for-PC to be able to read your (free) ebook and was delighted to find I can read from the screen with a greatly reduced brightness through that software – something my laptop manufacturer and Windows10 don’t provide, the minimum brightness is much too bright and so reading much is prohibitive usually. So, reading comfortably via Kindle-for-PC I read your whole book cover to cover unable to put it down! Thanks to your generous offer and the links provided (after re-directing to the uk sites) I now have a kindle library of selected reading to enjoy – I was also pleased to find that the Kindle software allows PDF file imports, so I can now read those easier with less brightness too 🙂
Another plus is that the idea of self-publishing via Kindle makes so much more sense having sampled some published content! Many thanks again for sharing your journey in these ways and very best wishes for book3 launch. 🙂
